A group of unidentified men triggered chaos in Patna’s Boring Canal Road area on Saturday evening by firing several rounds in the air, allegedly after a parking dispute. They arrived in a black SUV with no number plate and fled the scene recklessly after the firing, causing panic in the locality. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Senior police officials said the incident occurred in full public view and close to Additional ADG (Law and Order) Pankaj Darad, who was passing by. His security personnel also fired warning shots near GPO Golambar in an attempt to stop the SUV, but the assailants managed to escape. A police control room alert was immediately issued.
Following the incident, six police personnel — including a sub-inspector, two assistant sub-inspectors, and three constables — were suspended for negligence. Police have launched a probe and are scanning CCTV footage to identify the suspects. The SSP confirmed that a special team is on the case to track down the shooters.
